Young Business Person of the Year shows no sign of slowing

Today sees the launch of the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards 2017, awards created to celebrate the successes of enterprising SMEs in the county and help them to raise their profile.

Last year Fae Perkins of Bond Hair in Wellingborough won the prestigious ‘Young Business Person of the Year’ award and was also shortlisted in the ‘Business Innovation’ and ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ categories, with judges quick to comment on her ‘limitless energy’ and ‘impressive personal drive’.

Now Fae, who turned 30 in March, is celebrating eight years of running Bond Hair this month with the launch of a brand new website which is due to go live by the end of the month.

The website showcases Bond Hair’s keratin bonded hair extensions, which utilise flat protein tips instead of glue to wrap around the hair, through an eye-catching photo gallery and videos. Visitors can also access a price list and book appointments online, a service that is vital for Fae as she also holds down a full-time marketing role with self-build company Potton in Bedfordshire.

Fae said: “Winning the SME Northamptonshire Business Award was such a proud moment for me. Whilst I’m not your typical entrepreneur, I do have entrepreneurial spirit, optimism, ambition and a passion for business. Setting up my own business at such a young age has taught me a lot and has been hard work. When I was offered the job at Potton, I wasn’t sure how I’d continue with a Northants-based business on top of a full-time position which is my main focus.

“Before I knew it, I had two passions and every time I feel exhausted I remember how lucky I am, to have not one but two jobs I love!”

Fae now runs Bond Hair as a lifestyle business alongside her Potton role, which sees her undertake up to a two-hour commute each day, and is also studying for a CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) qualification.
