Like last year, there will be a full or a half marathon available to run for teams of four runners from businesses, other organisations or family and friends.
More than £35,000 has been raised in total for LOROS in the Cummins Relay Challenge’s first four outings. The employment law firm wants 2017 to be a record year for generating vital funds for LOROS and its caring work.
Magdalena Korytkowska, partnership development lead at LOROS, said: “We are very grateful to all at Cummins Employment Solicitors for their continued support. The Cummins Relay is a fantastic team challenge. “The fundraising effort of the teams makes a great difference to the care we provide to our patients and their family members. We wish good luck to everyone and we look forward to seeing the runners at the finish line.”
The 2017 Leicester Marathon is on Sunday October 15, with Cummins aiming for 60 teams for the half marathon (each runner takes on about 3.25 miles of the 13.1 mile course) and 20 for the full distance (each runner doing about 6.5 miles).
The team to beat for the half marathon’s record time is the Post Office, which in 2015 raced home in one hour, 17 minutes and 43 seconds. The fastest team in last year’s full marathon relay was ZigZag Photography in 2:55:37. The entry fee is £100 per team until September 30 and every penny goes to LOROS. Michael Cummins said: “More than 200 teams took part in the first four years of the Cummins Relay Challenge for LOROS. We’d love another strong year to help pay for the invaluable work of LOROS does for many Leicestershire families each year.”
The Challenge starts and finishes alongside the Leicester Marathon at Victoria Park. Cummins Employment Solicitors do all the entry leg work and provide all the information and on-site refreshments, so runners just turn up and do their bit.
