The former Practice Manger of Nottingham-based law firm Rothera Sharp has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nottinghamshire Law Society. In addition to his work with Rothera Sharp, Dave Barradell, (64), was an active member of the law society’s group for practice managers, and was recognised for his exceptional hard work and dedication in these roles. He is also the first non-solicitor to win the award.
With a successful managerial career in retail banking behind him, Dave joined the firm of German and Soar in 1999, prior to its merger with Rothera Dowson in 2001; this firm then merged with Sharp Young & Pearce to form Rothera Sharp in June 2016 and he remained with them until his retirement in December 2016.
Dave was understandably pleased to receive his award: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been given the Lifetime Achievement Award. I really enjoyed managing the practice of Rothera Sharp (and in all of its previous guises) making many friends along the way. I have many happy memories of my time there and I also took great pleasure in being part of the law society’s Practice Managers Group – although I’m now looking forward to a long and peaceful retirement!”.
Ann-Marie Bowman, Rothera Sharp’s joint Managing Partner, added: “Dave was an extremely experienced Practice Manager. He’s enormously trustworthy, reliable and conscientious, and proved to be really influential when it came to our recent merger with Sharp Young & Pearce.
“We’re really pleased for him on achieving this award and it is the icing on the cake in time for his retirement”.
Michael Auty QC, president of the Nottinghamshire Law Society, presented Dave with his award. He commented:
“We decided to choose Dave for the Nottinghamshire Law Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award because of his outstanding contribution to law throughout his career. He was heavily involved with supporting the local law community and was also renowned by his colleagues for his ‘can do’ attitude and hands on nature”.
Rothera Sharp’s head office is located on Kayes Walk in the centre of the Lace Market. The firm has other branches in Mapperley, Beeston, West Bridgford, Wollaton, Arnold, Long Eaton and Burton Joyce.
