The total is the result of a year of diverse and engaging fundraising activities undertaken by staff from across the business and, when added to the previous year’s total, means the charity has benefitted from nearly £45,000 from the efforts of Opus Energy. From a week-long company-wide charity challenge, the London marathon and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, to activities such as raffles and cake sales, many of the team have got involved to generate as much money as possible for Mencap.
Andy Nash, Operations Director of Opus Energy, commented: “Once again we’re delighted that a year of fundraising activities means we were able to beat our fundraising target, providing a boost to Mencap and the valuable work it does across the UK.
“Our team shows great dedication and commitment in everyday operations, so it is great to see the same efforts being made to raise money for such a worthy cause!”
Opus Energy has supported Mencap for two years and the money raised will go towards its work with people with a learning disability to change laws, challenge prejudice and support them to live their lives as they choose.
In addition to Mencap, Opus Energy also supports Rainbows Hospice and Beating Bowel Cancer. It has committed to continue its fundraising support for Rainbows Hospice until April 2017.
