Latest figures show that Nottinghamshire now has more than 50,000 companies located in the county for the very first time – demonstrating that it offers a supportive environment for business.
At the end of October 2018, 50,023 businesses were registered according to company secretarial and formation specialists Inform Direct, based on statistics from Companies House and the Office of National Statistics.
Leading the way were Nottingham (17,373), followed by Rushcliffe (6,729) and Broxtowe (4,780).
These positive figures follow on from Nottinghamshire enjoying a successful year in 2017 when 6,937 new businesses were registered in the county, compared to 6,642 in 2016. This increase bucked the national trend which saw an overall reduction in new company formations.
John Korchak, Director of Operations at Inform Direct said: “Nottinghamshire had an impressive year in 2017 which has continued into 2018, passing the 50,000 milestone for the first time in its history. This shows that it offers a positive environment for business – both in terms of new start-ups and existing companies.
“Nottinghamshire has a thriving service sector which is the dominant employer, with a cluster of financial and business service companies, as well as back office functions for well known brands.
“The county’s central location at the heart of the motorway network has also attracted many logistics operators in recent years.”
