Nottingham’s Russell Scanlan Awarded Chartered Status for Second Year Running

Nottingham’s largest independent insurance broker Russell Scanlan is celebrating after being awarded coveted chartered status for the second year running – one of just a handful of brokers in the city to be granted the title.

The team, based on Wellington Circus, was granted chartered status for the first time last year by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) after demonstrating its commitment to delivering the highest professional level of knowledge, advice and ethical practice.

In order to be granted chartered status by the CII, insurance brokers need to submit details of every staff member’s professional qualifications, all staff must be members of the CII, there must be a development plan for staff in place and all broking employees must complete 35 hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD) each year. In addition, at least 25% of the firm’s board must hold the ACII (chartered broker) status.

Managing Director at Russell Scanlan, Bryan Banbury, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we have been awarded chartered status for the second year running. This really is a coveted badge, a ‘gold standard’ of excellence and integrity for the insurance sector.

“A small proportion of firms of brokers nationwide have obtained chartered status, indicating how rigorous and all-encompassing the application is. Being awarded this status means our unique and professional service offering has been officially recognised and our customers can be confident that they have chosen a firm with a strong set of core values and ethical work practices which offers the highest quality advice.”

All staff at Russell Scanlan are at least Cert CII qualified, while two team members are currently working towards their Dip CII and more than six of the team are ACII qualified.

Bryan added: “We are dedicated to ensuring that all of our staff have the opportunity to develop their skills at every turn, which is key criteria for chartered status. As well as Dip CII and ACII status, we also have staff working towards other professional qualifications such as AAT Level 3 and the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) certificate.

“I’d like to congratulate the whole team for their hard work and dedication to both their personal development and the development of the business and I look forward to Russell Scanlan being awarded chartered status for a third year running in 2018.”
