A junior football team is kicking off the season with a brand new kit thanks to sponsorship from the largest independent insurance broker in Nottingham, Russell Scanlan.
The business, which is based in Wellington Circus, has funded the kit for Cotgrave FC’s under 9 Clarets team which plays seven-a-side football in the Young Elizabethan League. The 11-strong squad trains at Ridley Sports Ground in Colliers Way, Cotgrave, alongside the under 9 Blues team with 22 players training and playing every week.
Bryan Banbury, Managing Director of Russell Scanlan, said: “We were delighted to offer our support to Cotgrave FC, which is a much-loved club to many families in the area. We hope the Clarets are pleased with their new kit and we wish them every success with the coming season.”
Cotgrave FC, formerly Cotgrave Colts, has been providing football for children in and around the village for the last 25 years, as well as managing senior teams, and relies on sponsorship from local businesses to cover its costs.
Graham Everington, Manager of the under 9s teams, said: “It was a real buzz to be able to buy a brand new football kit for the Clarets, which is looking very smart. On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Russell Scanlan for their very generous sponsorship of our team, which will help us to continue promoting grassroots football in our community.”
Russell Scanlan is keen to support local good causes, having previously raised money for My Sight Notts, The Nottingham Stroke Club, Linden Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and Nottingham Hospice. The company’s Charity of the Year for 2018 is the Forget-me-Notts project run by global charity Operation Orphan, which helps underprivileged and at-risk children across the East Midlands this year.
