A Northamptonshire based apprentice has been named best apprentice in the region by a local housebuilder.

Edward Bennett, aged 23, currently based at Burcote Park, in Northamptonshire, has been shortlisted as Redrow Homes South Midlands’ Apprentice of the Year, thanks to his passion and commitment to becoming an expert in his field.

Edward joined Redrow Homes South Midlands as an apprentice electrician and has been working across a range of developments in the region ever since. Prior to starting his apprenticeship, he worked in various office and retail jobs, before realising he wanted to build a career in the housebuilding industry.

His previous experience helped him to develop outstanding communication skills, and taught him how to work in a fast-paced environment – two essential skills to succeed in his new role. According to Edward, patience is also key, especially when it comes to wiring.

Edward said: “I am so pleased to have been selected as the region’s best apprentice, and I’m delighted that my hard work has been recognised. I have always wanted to work for a large housebuilding company, so Redrow Homes was the ideal choice for me. The whole apprentice department has been extremely supportive; I’ve truly been given all the tools I need to succeed.

“My apprenticeship has been a wonderful experience so far and I have learnt so much. I look forward to continuing to learn new skills and build my career here at Redrow Homes. I’d recommend anyone thinking of doing an apprenticeship to go for it, as it’s a great way of learning new skills whilst building a career.”

John Mann, Managing Director for Redrow Homes South Midlands, added: “From the moment he started his apprenticeship, Edward’s commitment has been nothing short of extraordinary. Success stories like his are the reason why we are committed to nurture apprentices here at Redrow Homes, and we look forward to watching him grow in his career. Well done Edward!”
