Newark and Sherwood Homes appoints new Board Chairman

Newark and Sherwood Homes has appointed local businessman Andrew Fearn as its new Board Chairman.

Andrew has over 40 years’ experience as a lawyer, most recently as a Deputy Managing Partner of Langleys in Lincoln and York. In addition to his professional work, Andrew has held numerous roles in the district including periods as Lay Vice Chairman and Churchwarden at St. Mary Magdalene’s Church and Chairman of Governors of Magnus School. He was also a Trustee of Newark Area Arts and Leisure Foundation

Commenting on his appointment as Chairman, Andrew said: “I am honoured to join Newark and Sherwood Homes as Chairman of the Board and look forward to being an ambassador for the company as well as the local community, through leading discussions with integrity and a fresh pair of eyes. I relish any opportunity to make a difference for the community and can’t wait to begin supporting Newark and Sherwood Homes in continuing to meet its vision of delivering housing excellence. ”

Andrew was officially appointed during the housing management company’s Annual General Meeting on November 22, 2018, where his predecessor Lynn Clayton stepped down after 12 years of service.

Reflecting on her tenure on the Board coming to the end of its term, Lynn commented: “I leave the Board feeling proud of the company and everything it has achieved under my leadership. I have no doubts that it will continue on its successful journey and do even more to deliver for tenants and their communities. Congratulations to the new Chair, Andrew.”

The Newark and Sherwood Homes Board has ultimate responsibility for the governance practice of Newark and Sherwood Homes. Its central role is to direct the company’s work, determine strategic direction, deliver the terms of the management agreement and approve overall expenditure and policies.
