Dave Bedlow, Head of Learning & Development at Mortgage Advice Bureau was one of just four professionals from across the UK recognised for the Special Achievement Award at the Training Journal (TJ) Awards earlier in December. He is also a finalist in the Learning & Performance Institute’s Learning Leader of the Year category, the winner of which will be announced at an event at the Dorchester in February 2019.
The TJ Awards, now in their 13th year, recognise the ingenuity, creativity, passion and hard work of learning and development professionals. The Special Achievement Award in particular recognises outstanding individuals whose practice has impacted on organisational success and individuals’ lives. Dave was nominated by client Brightstar, the mortgage broker and finance specialist, because of his passion for learning and development. Although not the overall winner of the award on the night, he was delighted to make the shortlist.
He said: “I was thrilled to be recognised and make such a strong shortlist for this award. The fact that the nomination came from a client I work closely with makes it doubly pleasing, highlighting the value our business partners see in the training and L&D support we offer to our advisers, and the tangible difference we are able to make to their businesses.”
The finalists in the Learning & Performance Institute’s Learning Awards are shortlisted from entries from across the globe and represent the highest achieving individuals and organisations in the field of learning and development.
Looking forward to the awards ceremony in February, Dave commented: “This is another award that I’m over the moon make the final in. As you would expect, the competition is extremely stiff and to receive recognition of our efforts at this level is testament to our exceptionally high standards and the focus we put on delivering impactful L&D.”
