Morley Hayes celebrates August bank holiday with return of popular Beer & Gin Festival

Derbyshire leisure complex Morley Hayes is hosting its annual Beer and Gin Festival over the August Bank Holiday.

The eight-day Beer and Gin Festival is taking place in the Old Stables Bar, a stylishly refurbished barn at the complex on Main Road in Morley, from Thursday 23 to Thursday 30 August, with live music on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August.

Beer enthusiasts will be able to sample the very best beers and ciders that Derbyshire and the nearby areas have to offer, and gin lovers will be treated to a range of forty gins from across the globe, including several from local distilleries in Nottingham, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Back by popular demand after their successful performance at last year’s event are ‘The Strange Trio’, who are confirmed to play on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Beer and Gin Festival will be open from 6pm on Thursday 23 August with the bar set to close at 11pm each evening except Sunday 26 and Monday 27 August, when the bar will close at 10.30pm. Admission to the event is free.

Commenting on staging another Beer and Gin Festival, Andrew Allsop, managing director of Morley Hayes, said: “Our first Beer and Gin Festival was staged in May after two hugely popular Beer Festivals in 2017, which were attended by hundreds of people and received fantastic feedback.

“We were very lucky with the weather in May and hope the hot spell stays with us right through to the August Bank Holiday.

“The Morley Hayes complex is conveniently located on the H1 and Y1 bus routes, so it’s the perfect excuse to leave the car at home and enjoy a drink or two in a relaxing setting.”

Morley Hayes is set in the stunning Derbyshire countryside overlooking parkland golf courses. It boasts a luxury four star, 32-bedroom hotel and a choice of three restaurants, including the award-winning two AA rosette Dovecote restaurant, Roosters and Spike Bar.

Golf facilities include a championship length 18-hole Manor course, 9-hole Tower course, a newly-refurbished 17 bay, all weather floodlit driving range, golf pavilion and a highly-respected Golf Academy.
