A Mindful Approach to Business

Celebrating its third anniversary in 2017, the successful local Women in Business partnership led by Smith Partnership, Burton & District Chamber of Commerce and FCM Associates – hosted by The Mercure Newton Park hotel, has announced its annual evening event on Thursday 12th October!

An evening with Debbie Leafe will offer local business women the chance to gain vital insight from local empowerment coach Debbie Leafe, as to how they can use mindfulness in their daily lives.

With a career spanning 22 years in the coaching profession and running her own business MindFit Coaching, Debbie will help the delegates understand how mindfulness can help them to manage the challenges of being a woman in the 21st century, both at work and in their home life.

Debbie Leafe, founder of MindFit Coaching said: “I am really looking forward to speaking to the ladies in October to explain what mindfulness is, and to share with them some tools and techniques to help them deal more skilfully with their thoughts and emotions and reduce their stress, anxiety and even illness.

“Research estimates that we have approximately 60,000 thoughts a day with 90% of them being the same as the day before, this can be overwhelming. Over the years I have helped people to focus their mind and access a sense of calm and acceptance. With many scientific studies now showing how these traditional therapeutic methods can help people gain emotional awareness and to be fully engaged in how they respond to life’s challenges.

“I believe women can use mindfulness to gain more clarity, improve relationships, achieve better results for their business, and make better decisions around their work life balance.”

Chris Plant, Divisional Director for Burton & District and Chase Chambers of Commerce said: “Our vibrant Women in Business programme has gone from strength to strength over the last three years, and we are so pleased to be working with our programme partners FCM Associates, Smith Partnership and Mercure Newton Park Hotel, who help us create engaging and memorable networking events, and skills workshops!”

Women in Business partner, Claire Twells, Partner at Smith Partnership Solicitors said: “We are so pleased to welcome yet another top class professional speaker to our annual autumn evening event, Debbie Leafe, who is a truly inspirational coach. I know she will give the ladies the insight for making positive changes to their lives for improved wellbeing. We will also continue to raise money for a fabulous local charity Every Cloud, who buy gifts for people under-going breast cancer treatment.”

The ladies will enjoy a freshly prepared seasonal two course meal for dinner at The Mercure Newton Park, a grade-II listed, 18th century grand Italianate-style country manor in eight acres of private grounds.

Wilma Gallagher, The Mercure Newton Park, General Manager said: “As Chamber members, we have been delighted to host Women in Business in 2017 – the first two events were a huge success.

“Our country hotel is a hidden gem just outside Burton, with facilities for all occasions, for both family and business events. Our Head Chef David Fox is very proud of his vegetable garden at the hotel, producing his own seasonal produce all year long for his freshly prepared menu. We look forward to welcoming the ladies and meeting Debbie in October.”
