Meet the new LEADER team

The European Union funded rural grant programme, LEADER, which is designed to support rural businesses to create jobs and support the rural economy, is delighted to announce the new LEADER team.

Joining Will Dallimore, who is now appointed as the LEADER Project Manager for North & West Northants, Chilterns & Clay Vales areas, are Emma Waters as LEADER Project Officer for the Chilterns area, and Ruth Deraed as LEADER Project Officer for the Clay Vales area.

LEADER offers grants of up to £50,000 in the Chilterns & Clay Vales project areas to help create growth and jobs, whilst in North & West Northamptonshire grants of up to £100,000 are available

With the recent appointments of both Emma and Ruth, LEADER now has a very strong and focused team in place. Will Dallimore, said: “We are delighted to have both Emma and Ruth on-board the LEADER team who bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to the programme. I am confident we have a firm basis in place with the new appointments to develop the programme further and benefit the rural economy.”

Emma Waters, who replaces Amber Kelly as Project Officer for the Chiltern area, brings a broad range of experience to the position, having previously worked as a Project Manager at the University of Oxford, responsible for managing the Oxford Centre for Nonlinear PDE (OxPDE), as well as the finances of two funded projects totalling more than £5 million, whilst securing funding for further projects within the Mathematical Institute. Prior to this, she was Executive Assistant to the Economic and Business Adviser to the Mayor of London.

LEADER Project Officer for Clay Vales, Ruth Deraed, also brings a wealth of experience to the role. Ruth has a scientific background with a Ph.D. in Plant Biochemistry and has gained experience at Oxford University as Departmental Administrator and at Cancer Research UK as an Administrative Manager.

Will Dallimore has worked on funding programmes in Northamptonshire since 2010 having gained considerable experience from the 2007-2013 LEADER Programme. Before joining Ngage Solutions, Will worked for Northamptonshire County Council in the Economic Development team and during this time his main role was to ensure the smooth running of various grant funding programmes

The LEADER programme has been running across England for more than 10 years and a new round of grant funding is now operating for 2015-2019. Rural businesses across the Chilterns and Clay Vales can now apply for grants of up to £50,000, whilst in North & West Northamptonshire grants of up to £100,000 are available to help create growth and jobs.

The grants are administered by Ngage Solutions, on behalf of the LEADER Local Action Groups.

The LEADER programme is designed to promote business growth, particularly the growth of micro and small businesses. It is focused on rural areas supporting; small rural companies, farm diversification projects, forestry projects, tourism projects, rural services and cultural and heritage projects. Each programme area is expected to help with the creation of approximately 75 jobs and to provide financial support for 130 rural businesses.

In the 2008-2013 LEADER programme, projects delivered by Ngage were some of the most successful in the UK. 124 projects were awarded funding which in turn sustained 206 jobs, created 117 new jobs and helped launch 39 new businesses.
