The East Midlands offices of international accountancy and advisory firm, Mazars, have announced that they have already raised £1,750 for The John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre this year.
The announcement comes six months after the firm confirmed The John Van Geest Centre as their 2017 charity of choice, marking the halfway point in a busy year of fundraising.
So far, the team has hosted a series of events, including ‘Dress Down Days’ and Superhero Challenges. With more events in the pipeline, the team hopes to raise even more money for the cause.
Alistair Wesson, East Midlands Managing Partner at Mazars, said: “The John van Geest Centre is a charity which has a very special place in our hearts here. With one in two people predicted to be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, their research has never been more important.
“I want to thank everyone who has donated their time, efforts and funds to the cause so far this year and look forward to even more great events later on this year to help us raise even more much needed funds for this truly worthwhile cause.”
Based at Nottingham Trent University, the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is a purpose built facility on the Clifton Campus which is dedicated to cancer research.
The Centre’s work is focussed on improving the diagnosis and management of patients with cancer. It also works to develop new and more effective treatments and therapeutics that trigger the immune system to attack the disease, helping to improve the quality of life and survival of cancer sufferers.
