Major Midlands investment projects supported by Fraser Brown

Fraser Brown Solicitors’ Lincoln office is celebrating a positive start to 2019 following the completion of two major projects for leading independent infrastructure and private equity investment firm – Foresight Group.

Foresight Group appointed the law firm to provide legal advice in relation to its investment in the projects, as part of the Midlands Engine’s vision for growth, an initiative which looks to make the East and West Midlands an engine for growth for the UK economy.

Acting as fund manager to provide investment to businesses in the Midlands region, Foresight Group worked with corporate finance partner at Fraser Brown, Ed Capes, who prepared the relevant investment documentation and subsequently provided legal advice through to completion of the investment projects.

The first recently completed investment from Foresight Group, was in Lincolnshire-based super premium chocolate company FIRETREE Chocolate Ltd. The second, saw Foresight Group invest in one of the UK’s fastest growing large format digital print specialist companies – Lincoln-based Your Print Partner.

Corporate Finance Partner, Ed Capes, said: “I’ve had a fantastic first few months in my position at Fraser Brown. The opportunity to work from the firm’s Lincoln office is everything I hoped it would be and it’s been a pleasure working with Foresight Group to see these two major projects through to completion. This represents an exciting new chapter for both businesses receiving investment as part of the Midlands Engine and I wish them well for their further growth and success in the future.”

Gavin White, Partner at Fraser Brown and head of the corporate team, said: “Since joining Fraser Brown, Ed continues to be a valuable asset to the team, utilising his extensive knowledge and experience of the industry and region to strengthen the Lincoln office.

“His work with Foresight Group is testament to his strong work ethic and his commitment to building quality relationships with the professional community.”

Ray Harris of Foresight Group said “We really enjoyed working with Ed Capes.  With a good balance of legal knowledge and commercial pragmatism, he’s able to take a sensible view on things which means that the legal process was very smooth from our end.”
