A leading Lincolnshire-based accountancy firm has held a seminar for local businesses on Equality and Diversity.
Nicholsons Chartered Accountants, which has offices in Lincoln and Market Rasen, hosted the seminar which was led by Trevor Gordon from Gordon Ffrench Associates Limited.
A strong and up to date knowledge of employment legislation, including the Equality Act 2010, is crucial for all employers, but it can be difficult to navigate through the requirements of the numerous laws which relate to this area.
Trevor Gordon updated the businesses that attended on their obligations under the Equality Act, including how it relates to age, gender, marriage and civil partnerships, religion and belief, sexual reassignment, disability, maternity and pregnancy and sexual orientation.
Richard Hallsworth, a Director at Nicholsons, said: “This was an interesting seminar, which I know the businesses that attended found useful. With the legal requirements relating to employment growing ever more complex, it is vital for employers to keep up to date about their responsibilities to minimise the risk of claims being made against them.
“Trevor is an engaging speaker and he explained the various requirements for businesses in a clear and straightforward way.
“Here at Nicholsons, we work hard to develop strong relationships with our clients and so we hold regular seminars on matters of interest to local businesses.”
This was the first in a series of three seminars organised by Nicholsons Chartered Accountants for its clients and contacts. The next seminar in the series will take place on Wednesday 24 November, covering cyber security. Places can be secured by visiting http://www.nicholsonscharteredaccountants.co.uk/events/.
