Following the substantial growth of the business over the last six years, which has seen the firm’s auction sites swell from one to 22 and cemented John Pye Auctions as the largest independent auctioneer in the UK, the associate directorship roles have been created in recognition of contributions made by key personnel.
The five, who have been promoted to associate directors from their previous senior positions within the company, have been recognised for their dedication and increased levels of management responsibilities that the rapid growth of the business has generated.
Managing director of John Pye Auctions, Adam Pye, said: “John Pye Auctions is in a period of considerable expansion and the five associate directorships have been created to acknowledge the individuals that have helped to deliver the company’s strategic growth plan.”
Joanne Greenfield, who is based at the Nottingham HQ in New Basford, is now associate director and company accountant. Joanne joined John Pye Auctions in 2013 and is an ACCA qualified accountant and managers the accounts department across all 22 sites.
Associate director and head of national retail facilities, Steve Anderson, is responsible for managing the company’s team of site managers across five key hubs; Marchington (where he is based), Nottingham, Derby, Scotland and South Wales). During his nine years at John Pye Auctions, Steve has worked as an off-site auction supervisor, health & safety officer, saleroom manager and site manager. He now provides strategic support on new site operational set up, roll out and ops process development to ensure all sites are running as efficiently as possible within the salerooms.
Nottingham-based Charles Loake, associate director and head of business assets, has been with the business an impressive 21 years, joining in 1996. Charles heads up the company’s business assets department, managing over 20 staff UK wide who work on instructions on behalf of Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Practitioners, as well as private businesses looking to restructure operations and unlock equity in surplus asset holdings.
Through Charles’ achievements, John Pye Auctions has been voted winner two years running in London’s TRI Awards category of Asset Valuer/Auctioneer of the Year category.
Zoe Wright, who was previously Nottingham general manager is now associate director and general manager. Zoe’s main responsibility is to oversee head office management and administrative operations and internal communications. Zoe has been with John Pye Auctions for seven years and is integral to the company’s successful management and delivery of Government contracts and supporting operations with KPI tracking.
Noel Mulready, associate director and head of South Wales & UK Vehicle Operations, started with John Pye 15 years ago in 1990 when he joined the company on a casual basis before joining the military.
Returning in 2008, Noel worked as a labourer, valuer and then a saleroom manager in Nottingham. He was subsequently a site manager at the Greater London auction hub in Acton and was also national vehicles operations manager for the mobilization, commencement and ongoing delivery of the firm’s DVLA contract which is still part of his role. Noel is based at the auctioneers largest and newest site, Port Talbot in South Wales, which he manages.
Adam continued: “Charles, Zoe, Noel, Joanne and Steve have all worked incredibly hard for the company and their dedication and commitment has been integral to its success and growth. I am really pleased they are now part of the senior management team which is well deserved.
“They will play a vital role in supporting the board of directors to deliver the company’s overarching strategic pan and day-to-day operations.”
Second generation-owned John Pye Auctions started trading nearly 50 years ago, when John Pye began probate property clearances that no other auctioneers in Nottingham wanted.
Since then, the business has turned into the UK’s largest commercial auction house and operates across 20 UK sites, including Nottingham, Derby, Marchington, Birmingham, Sheffield, London, Scotland and Wales.
The business, which has a workforce of 250, recently reported that it had sold a record number of more than 1.5m items in 2016. With everything from sofas and iPhones to gem stones and Formula One racing cars going under the hammer through the online public auction site.
The company works with major UK high-street retailers, insolvency practitioners, banks, lenders, government agencies and agents, selling assets and stock through five trading departments: John Pye Retail, John Pye Luxury Assets, John Pye Property, John Pye Business Assets and John Pye Vehicles.
