A Loughborough-based logistics company, which was set up more than 40 years ago, is celebrating a new direction after management of the family business was passed from father to son.
ETS Ltd, which provides complete transport and warehouse solutions, was set up by Phil Elliott in 1972 aged just 20. From one lorry, and working out of his parents’ house, he built the company into a £4.5m turnover business operating a 16-strong fleet, with 45,000 sq. ft warehouse capacity and employing 33 people.
His son Jon Elliott, who has worked in project and operational roles within the business for the last five years, will now take the reigns as MD, spearheading the company’s future growth plans. Phil Elliott will stay on as company Chairman.
Jon says he will build on the legacy created by his father and retain the company’s culture whilst embracing new technology and innovation and adapting to changing customer needs in the fast-moving world of logistics and e-commerce.
He comments: “I have huge admiration for the business that my father has built and, having spent five years in key business improvements roles, I’m looking forward to shaping the future direction of the company.
“We have an experienced and talented team at ETS and our focus will be on working in partnership with customers to provide complete and tailored logistics solutions. For us, in addition to providing timely delivery and effective management of goods, it’s about working with clients to improve the quality of their entire operation, reduce costs and maximise efficiency.”
Phil Elliott comments: “I’m obviously delighted that Jon made the decision to join the family business and is now ready to take over from me as MD. Jon has the experience and vision to take the company forward and start an exciting new chapter for ETS.”
