Expanding architectural practice celebrates first year in Derby

YMD Boon is celebrating a busy 12 months since opening its doors on Pride Park and the firm of architects and construction consultants continue to grow its team.

With origins stretching back over 45 years, the YMD Boon office in Market Harborough had long standing relationships with a number of well-known Derby-based businesses and organisations.

The firm set its sights on a second office in Derby as the natural next step; providing a team in the city to build on its presence and be closer to clients.

Director of the firm and Derby office lead, Shari Setayesh, said: “With our existing client base in Derby, its excellent central location and road network, a Derby office was an obvious choice and in line with the practice’s growth plans.

“This time last year we had a clear strategy of what we wanted to achieve in terms of projects and team growth. We have exceeded expectations and are currently looking for a further senior architect.

“We have found Derby and in particular Pride Park, an excellent location and have thrown ourselves into the vibrant and progressive business community by joining associations, supporting good causes and responding to community needs.

“The YMD Boon team and I look forward to many more successful years in Derby.”

YMD Boon work across many sectors but has experienced significant growth in education, residential and industrial work.

The firm is currently working on a number of local and regional projects. In Derby city centre it has been appointed by Derby City Council on a substantial office complex on Keddleston Road. The £1m project will see the major remodeling and refurbishment of two existing buildings plus an extension.

In the home counties, YMD Boon has just completed an £8.5m school project in Hertfordshire. The practice was appointed to design and deliver new classroom blocks for three primary schools in the county which are now successfully occupied for the new academic year.

Shari continues: “We are well known in the industry for our wide range of services within education and this continues to be a big part of our business. However, we have seen an increase in the amount of residential and particularly industrial work in the East and West Midlands.”

Following the company’s expansion, YMD Boon is investing in a new website and refreshed corporate identity which reflects its broad experience and service ethos.
