BID members’ businesses in North Nottinghamshire now have access to a free maintenance and repair service to complete small improvement projects and keep their local area pristine, thanks to a brand new initiative from the North Notts BID.
The service is provided by the BID’s maintenance operative Andy Tomlinson and can be used by BID members for tasks such as external decorating and shop front painting, gutter clearing and weeding.
Sally Gillborn, chief executive of North Notts BID, said: “We’re delighted to have Andy on board and to be able to provide this service to BID members. Our priority is promoting the great businesses run by our members in the North Nottinghamshire area; having well-kept premises is important in showing the area in its best light.
“This service will allow BID members to focus on running their businesses without having to worry about the minor DIY jobs that we all know pop up from time to time. All they need to do is provide the materials and Andy will do the rest.”
The maintenance operative also covers public spaces within the North Notts BID territory to make sure ongoing repairs are complete and street furniture is kept in good condition.
Marianne Cumberworth, director of Porter & Brown Emporium, said “Andy from the North Notts BID team helped to paint the railings at our premises in Retford. The job was daunting to my business partner and I and it would have taken up a lot of our time, which equates to money when you’re an independent business. We were grateful to be approached by Joe Sentence, the lead BID ambassador who told us about this service just as we were prepping the railings for the undercoat!
“The railings look amazing and have really added a professional edge to our business – we’d recommend this service and Andy to anyone.”
