The annual quest to find the crème de la crème of regional business has been launched.
East Midlands Chamber*, the headline sponsor at this week’s Love Business Expo, used the event to launch its 2017 search for the region’s best businesses.
Only the Chamber’s awards offer winners a chance to compete in regional and national heats of the British Chambers of Commerce Awards.
Last year, East Midlands Chamber scooped the Excellence in International Trade Award from the British Chambers of Commerce.
Six Chamber members, each of them winners in the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards and regional winners of BCC Awards, were shortlisted for national accolades: Trent Academies Group for Education and Business Partnership, Hayles Leicester for Commitment to People, Cathelco for Export Business of the Year, Purpose Media for High Growth Business of the Year, Shakespeare Martineau for Excellence in Customer Service and Penny Hydraulics for Best Use of Technology.
The Chamber hosted three of the six zones at this year’s Love Business Expo, the biggest business networking event in the region, which was expected to attract thousands of visitors and hundreds of exhibitors to Donington Park, Castle Donington.
The three zones sponsored by the Chamber were Innovation, Technology & Sustainability, Manufacturing & Engineering and Transport & Logistics.
Launching the awards today, Scott Knowles, the Chamber’s Chief Executive, said: “This was the sixth year that the Chamber has been involved with Love Business, and the third year that it was the headline sponsor.
“Being at the heart of a major business networking, amid hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of delegates, seemed to be the perfect place to launch our Business Awards for 2017.
“You can’t overestimate the value of events like Love Business for their networking potential and for keeping abreast of latest innovations. And you can’t overestimate the kudos and potential for growth that comes from taking part in the region’s biggest business awards programme.”
The closing date for this year’s awards entries is 19 May. Separate awards competitions will be held in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, with the awards presented at a gala dinner in each county in the autumn. For more information and to enter visit business-awards.org.uk
