Northamptonshire-based artisan bakery Most Marvellous Baking was last night crowned savoury snacks category winner in the Free From Food Awards. The gold award for the Munchable Multiseed Crackers was followed up with a silver in the ‘best product from a start-up’ category.
The awards, which were held at the Royal College of Physicians in London last night, were presented to the winners by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson.
The crackers, which are gluten-free and suitable for vegans, are hand-crafted from a jumble of oats and seeds, tossed in rapeseed oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper and then slow-baked in the oven. They are a great source of fibre and good fats and are very low in sugar.
The multiseed crackers were launched in the summer of 2016 and have been proving a hit with foodies and food judges ever since. In October 2016, they scooped the national Good Choice! Quality Food Award for the best ‘savoury snack’ and in November 2016 were crowned ‘new local product of the year’ in the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.
The Free From Food Awards are the UK’s only industry awards for free from food (including foods that are free from gluten, dairy, nuts or any of the other 14 major allergens). They were started in 2008 by FoodsMatter and FreeFrom Foods Matter to encourage innovation and celebrate excellence in the free from food industry.

It is also great to play a small part in flying the flag for Northamptonshire produce on a national level.
